Religious Formation

In defining the purpose of religious formation, the National Catechetical Directory states “to make a person’s faith become living, conscious, and active, through the light of instruction.”  The catechists of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton strive to nurture the faith of our children by presenting Catholic doctrine based on the four pillars of the Church.  The presentations include group instruction based on the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton written curriculum.  It also includes experiences that reinforce the instruction and relate to life experiences.

Seton Summer Series - Registration is now open for the annual Seton Summer Series that will be held June 9 – 13 from 9:00 a.m. – Noon for ages 4 through 5th Grade. The theme is "Power Lab:  Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power". Volunteer opportunities are available for adults and children in grades 6-12. Protocol Training - The “Safe Conduct for Working with Minors” Seminar will be held the last Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph Room in the Parish Life Center. All those who volunteer in the parish in any capacity with children are required to attend the seminar once every five years. Please register by contacting Roger Helmkamp at 816-0045, ext. 131 or RogerH@seas-carmel.org.

Registration for 2008-2009 - Religious Education registration for the 2008-2009 School Year began last weekend. Registration forms are available in the Parish Office, the Parish Life Center Office, or you may click here for the various online registration forms. The early registration discount ends May 31st.

Registration for Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, & Confirmation is separate from the weekly Religious Education Program. Please be sure to submit all requested paperwork at the time of registration including Baptismal Certificates, Confirmation Names, Sponsor Names, and Sponsor Eligibility Forms. Your child will not be registered until all documentation is submitted.

Pre-School Registration for 2008-2009 - Registrations are still being accepted for the 2008 - 2009 school year. Some age levels have waiting lists. Please contact Tracy Schnase in the Parish Life Center at 816-0045 ext.130 or tracy.schnase@seas-carmel.org if you have any questions.

Catechist Formation

Catechist Orientation for new and returning Pre-School & Elementary Catechists will be on Wednesday, August 13th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All Catechists are to attend.

Middle School Catechists will meet on Sunday, August 24th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Other Catechist Formation sessions will be held on November 12th and February 11th at 7:00 p.m.
