Many volunteers make up the liturgical ministries, greatly affecting the quality of worship in our parish. Ministry coordinators recruit and schedule altar servers, ushers, and lectors. Cantors train separately from the various choirs and this ministry is by invitation and audition. Eucharistic Ministers are coordinated by a ministry volunteer, but are commissioned by special invitation by the pastor. The Sacristans are a group of volunteers who take care of sacristy needs-the cleaning and maintaining of altar vestments and vessels. They also help shape the environmental/seasonal decorations in the various worship spaces. Finally, there are various teams which rotate to provide leadership for the Children's Liturgy of the Word during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. Children (4 years - 4th grade) may participate in the Children's Liturgy of the Word at which they hear God's word in a translation suitable to their age level, and participate in songs and discussions-as well as games and crafts-which bring the scriptures alive for them.
