The Legion of Mary was founded in Dublin, Ireland on September 7, 1921. It is a lay catholic organization whose members provide service to the Church on a voluntary basis in almost every country. It has been operating in the United States since 1931. The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in the works of Mary and the Church. The Legion of Mary is made up of a number of local organizations called Praesidiums. Each Praesidium holds a weekly meeting, where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. "Our Lady, Mediatrix of all Graces" Praesidium is sponsored by Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Carmel, Indiana. Meetings are held every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Upper Room of the church. Some of our activities include visiting patients at Carmel Care Nursing Home or in the patient's home, saying the rosary at abortion clinics, and first Friday Eucharistic Adoration.
