In defining the purpose of Religious Formation, the National Catechetical Directory states “to make a person’s faith become living, conscious, and active, through the light of instruction.” The catechists of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton strive to nurture the faith of our children by presenting Catholic doctrine based on the four pillars of the Church. The presentations include group instruction based on the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton written curriculum. It also includes experiences that reinforce the instruction and relate to life experiences. The Sixth Grade Curriculum builds upon what has been learned in the Elementary Classrooms using the Sixth Grade text from the “Faith First – Legacy Edition Series” by Resources for Christian Living. Seventh & Eighth Grade follows a four semester curriculum using the same series. The four semesters are: Church & Sacraments, Mystery of God, Morality: Life in Christ, and Jesus in the New Testament. Visit www.faithfirst.com to learn more about our texts and for family activities. Middle School Bible Study Sessions are held on Sunday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. The sessions usually include an hour of classroom instruction with an additional 30 minutes that may include large group prayer services, guest speakers, special activities, or social time.
